My name is Diane.


I'm a call center agent. Night shift. 10PM to 7AM.


And for the past three years, my weight has been going in one direction only.


Pataas.


Hindi ako tamad, may disiplina naman ako.

 

It's just that, ang hirap mag-isip ng solusyon para sa isang schedule na parang baliktad sa lahat.


Habang tulog lahat, nagtatrabaho ako.
Habang nagtatrabaho lahat, tulog ako.


And somewhere in between? 

 

Wala nang oras para sa gym. 

 

Wala nang energy para mag-workout. 

 

At lagi na lang may excuse, kasi totoo naman yung excuse.

This was my typical day

Gising ako bandang 6PM. 

 

Kain ng kung ano, minsan delivery pa, kasi sino ba naman ang magluluto ng tanghalian sa gabi? 

 

Pumasok sa trabaho nang 9:30PM. 

 

Umupo sa harap ng monitor. 

 

Sumasagot ng tawag. 

 

Uminom ng kape para hindi maantok. 

 

Uwi bandang 7:30AM. 

 

Kain na naman, madalas fastfood na lang kasi saan ka makakakain ng maayos ng ganong oras? 

 

Tulog by 9AM. 

Gising na naman ng 6PM.
 

Paulit-ulit. Araw-araw.
 

Sa loob ng dalawang taon, tumaas ang timbang ko ng halos 15 pounds.
 

Hindi ko naman mapansin agad kasi maluwag yung uniform namin.

 

Pero nung triny ko mag-suot ng damit para sa reunion ng college, hindi na kasya yung medium ko. 

 

Na-shock ako. Ibinaba ko yung damit.

 

Isinuot ko yung pinaka-maluwag na meron ako.


At sa CR, hindi ko na mapanood ang sarili ko sa salamin nang matagal.

“Bat ba ako tumaba ng ganito”

At pagkatapos ng araw na iyon.

I tried going to the gym

Nag-sign up ako sa gym malapit sa amin.

 

Yung bukas ng 24 hours para "perfect para sa night shift workers" daw.


Dalawang beses lang akong pumunta.


Hindi dahil ayaw ko. 

 

Kundi dahil pagkatapos ng eight-hour shift, ang yung katawan ko parang sinasabi nalang na:

 

"Uy, huwag. Matulog na lang tayo."


❌ Gym membership: ₱1,200 na nasayang.


❌ Sinubukan ko rin yung diet. Keto, intermittent fasting, yung iba pa. 

 

Pero ang hirap mag-fast ng night shift.

 

Nagtatrabaho ka sa oras na dapat kain ka.

 

Kumakain ka sa oras na dapat tulog ka.

May kasama akong sa shift, si Marga.

 

Nung isang gabi, napansin ko na may kakaibang jacket siya.

✅ Gusto ko na ring maging mas consistent sa lahat ng iba pa.

 

✅ Kumain ng mas maayos. 

 

✅ Matulog sa tamang oras.

Sa loob ng unang linggo, pawis lang, hindi pa masyado nagbabago sa timbang.

 

Sa ikalawang linggo, tatlong pounds down. Mostly water weight, alam ko yun. 

 

Pero ramdam ko yung pagbabago sa katawan.

Sa ikatlong linggo, nagsimula na akong mag-adjust ng kain.
